Fell asleep: a servant of God, Anth[emos], 29th of .., in the year 916.
Considering the prestigious location of the burial in the small space occupied by the church, it would appear logical to suppose that the church was in fact created in order to house the burial (cf. V 151); it might be significant that the inscription is painted in the same manner as a fresco on the west wall. For the context of find, see Repnikov 1935, 108.
1–2. On the formula, see Introduction IV.3.F.e.
The name Anthemos is attested in Christian epigraphy 6 times (according to PHI7 Database), of which 5 are in Asia Minor.
5. The liturgical design of the church (Vinogradov, Gaydukov, Zheltov 2005, 75) does not contradict the date of the inscription.
