Commentary
The stone was in the collection of the Odessa Arechaeological Museum in 1884, when it was inspected by V.V. Latyshev. In the second half of the first decade of the 21st century, it could no longer be located in the museum.
Latyshev rightly observed that the restorations proposed by Struve are unlikely. In line 1, besides the name Poseidon, a number of other personal theophoric names, with the element Ποσειδ- are possible, and a large variety of names have the endings fitting the combinations of letters in lines 2 and 3. In line 4, the first letter is probably chi and not a mu.
As for the place of find, Latyshev pointed out that the stone looked like it had been rounded by the rolling waves and must have been washed ashore. He also speculated that the stone may have originated in Nikonion and not in Tyras.
