Commentary
The name Βισθᾶς is attested two more times in Chersonesos: in an epitaph of the Hellenistic period (III 299), Βισθᾶς Διονυσίου is mentioned; the same name is used as a patronymic of Herakleidas (Ἡρακλείδας Βισθᾶ) who was honoured as a proxenos in Delphi in 192 B.C.E. (Syll.3 58557; ср. Syll.3 604; Avram PPE 3193). Due to the rareness of the name, we cannot exclude that the named individuals are related (Perlman 2011, 446). For examples of other names with the same (Greek?) route, see Robert 1963, 311, n.7; Stolba 1996, 445.
